Church finances, tracked and planned
ChiesApp keeps the money side of the church in order. One ledger for income and expenses, a budget for each project, a register of what the church owns, and a report the board can read without an account in the app. It tracks and plans. It never holds or moves your money.
One ledger for income and expenses
Every offering, every bill, every reimbursement goes in once and stays readable. Use your own categories, then read the month as a list or as a pivot view by category and period.
Import transactions from a bank statement in CSV, and export to CSV or PDF when the board or your accountant asks. This is a plain cash ledger, not certified accounting software, so it is the treasurer’s working tool rather than a replacement for statutory accounts.
- Income and expense ledger with your own categories
- Pivot view by category and by period
- Recurring costs planned ahead: rent, utilities, staff, streaming
- CSV import from a bank statement, CSV and PDF export
- The monthly statement is ready without a spreadsheet
A budget for each project, and an asset register
Give a project its own budget (the youth camp, the building work, the fund for families in need) and watch the spend against it as the costs come in. Every project shows how far through its budget it is, so you find out before the money runs out, not after.
The asset register lists what the church owns, with value and condition, so the audio mixer and the projector exist somewhere other than in someone’s memory. Projects and assets sit on the same ledger, not in a second file nobody updates.
- Per-project budgets with live spend
- Completion percentage on every project
- Asset register with value and condition
- Projects and assets connected to the ledger
Send the report, not the password
The financial dashboard covers several periods at once. Share it as a link and the board, the trustees or an auditor read the figures without an account in the app.
Inside the app, financial data is permissioned. Each church sees only its own data, enforced at database level, and members never land on the ledger by accident.
- Multi-period financial dashboard
- Report shared by link, no app access needed
- Sensitive figures limited to the people you authorise
- One church, one data set: row-level security (RLS)
- GDPR by design, hosted in the EU
Why ChiesApp does not process donations online
This is a design decision, not a gap. The Finances module records what arrived and plans what is coming. It does not process payments or donations, and it never holds your church’s money.
Two things follow from that. Your financial data stays outside PCI and PSD2 scope, which is a compliance load no volunteer treasurer should be carrying. And nobody takes a percentage off the top, because there is nothing here to take it from.
The same rule covers event fees. The church lists its own methods (bank transfer, PayPal, cash at the door), the person signing up says they have paid, and a staff member confirms it. No money passes through ChiesApp, so there is no fee per registration.
Most churches in Europe and the UK already receive giving by bank transfer, standing order or the offering at the service. That part works. The part a spreadsheet does badly is seeing the whole year at once, and that is the part ChiesApp takes on.
Which plan Finances is in
Finances belongs to Resources, one of the two paid areas. Start on the free plan, get the people and the calendar in place, and open Resources when the treasurer wants it.
- Free: up to 30 contacts, no credit card. Includes up to 300 event sign-ups a month. Resources is not included.
- Starter: up to 80 members and 5 admins. Capacity only, no paid areas.
- Ministry: up to 150 members, and the first plan that opens both paid areas, Communication (spaces, pages, forms, lists and segments) and Resources (finances, projects, reports, café).
- Growth: up to 300 members, with unlimited event sign-ups.
- Network: up to 800 members.
- ChiesApp is European church management software, founded in 2025 by Gabriele Martucci and Lorenzo Pascalis.
Frequently asked questions
Does ChiesApp process online donations?
No, and that is deliberate. The Finances module tracks and plans church money, it does not collect it. Your financial data stays outside PCI and PSD2 scope, and nobody takes a percentage of what your church receives.
Can I import our bank statement?
Yes. Import transactions from a CSV file, put them into your own categories, and export the ledger to CSV or PDF when the board or your accountant needs it.
Who can see the church’s financial data?
Only the people you authorise. Each church’s data is isolated at database level, and the shared report is a read-only link, so trustees and auditors see the figures without an account in the app.
Which plan includes Finances?
Finances sits in Resources, a paid area that opens on the Ministry plan (up to 150 members). The free plan covers up to 30 contacts and the free areas; Starter adds capacity only, 80 members and 5 admins.
Do you charge a fee on event registration payments?
No. The church lists its own payment methods, the person signing up declares that they paid, and a staff member confirms. The money never goes through ChiesApp, so there is no commission.
