One person opens the register on a phone during the service and marks who is there. That is the whole job. Counts are kept by category, so adults, youth and kids are counted separately without keeping three separate lists.
The register is shared and updates live, so two people can mark two rooms at the same time. Each count belongs to the event it was taken at, recurring events included, so the Sunday service does not have to be set up again every week.

Read the trend, not just Sunday’s number
One headcount tells you nothing. Eight of them tell you where the church is going. ChiesApp keeps the history and shows it as a heatmap of recent Sundays, an average against the previous period, and a comparison with the same month last year.
First-time visitors are counted on their own, with the weekly change, so you can see whether new people are actually arriving. Set a target average and the progress against it is shown as a percentage.

What attendance costs
Attendance is not one of the paid areas. The free plan covers up to 30 contacts with no credit card and includes people and families, attendance, labels, teams and ministries, volunteer rotas and events. Event registrations come with the Ministry plan.
Above 30 contacts, Starter adds capacity and nothing else: 80 members and 5 admins. Two areas are paid, and both open on the Ministry plan: Communication (spaces, pages, forms, lists and segments) and Resources (finances, projects, reports, café). Growth and Network are there for larger churches and for networks of churches.

How do you take attendance in ChiesApp?
By hand, from a phone or a computer, by category of event: service, groups, youth, kids. The attendance sheet is shared and updates in real time, and closing out a Sunday takes about thirty seconds.
Does ChiesApp use face recognition to record attendance?
No. Attendance is marked by a person: no face recognition, no fingerprints, no automatic counting. If you want the door to move faster, a church on the Ministry plan can switch on the member card in its Space: each person shows a personal QR code and you scan it at the entrance. The camera is used in one place only, and for something different: scanning the PDF ticket of someone who signed up for an event at the door.
Can I compare attendance between periods?
Yes. You get the average against the previous period, a year-on-year comparison, weekly and monthly trends and a heatmap of recent Sundays. All of it exports to CSV and PDF.
Can I see who has stopped coming?
Yes. ChiesApp shows members who have not attended for a while, and counts first-time visitors separately so new people are not lost in the total.
